CPE policy and bylaws

Policy statement

Transit Finance Learning Exchange (TFLEx) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37219-2417, or online at www.nasba.org.

Attendance monitoring

  • Attendees sign in and sign out, recording arrival and departure times.
  • Scheduled breaks and meal periods are excluded from credit.
  • At least one TFLEx member monitors each program.
  • Certificates of completion are issued only after attendance is verified.

Keeping programs current

  • Needs and Leads: members submit topics and current issues for research and discussion.
  • Workshop evaluations: participants complete a standard questionnaire; results inform future programs.
  • Facilitated workshops: twice-yearly meetings focused on best practices and business planning.
  • Special Interest Groups: SIGs address budgets, grants, and information technology.
  • Sharing best practices: a maintained catalogue of transit-focused finance processes.
  • On-demand targeted research: custom studies on current best practices.
  • Peer review: an expert database supports member agency evaluations.

Record retention

TFLEx keeps records for five years, including participation, program dates and locations, instructor credentials, CPE credits earned, evaluation results, program materials, and evidence of program development. Records are stored securely with restricted access.

Refunds, cancellations, substitutions and complaints

  • Full refunds or credit toward a future workshop are available for cancellations at any time.
  • Substitutions from the same agency are permitted at no cost.
  • If TFLEx cancels a program, participants are notified and refunded.
